SAN JOSE, MAY 26, 2020

The Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC) has announced
the appointment of Betsi Roach as Executive Director. In this new role, she will lead the organization’s
full-time staff, oversee global membership activities, and partner with the board in setting strategy and
Direction.

“Betsi knows how to build great teams and nurture a global community,” said Mary O’Carroll, CLOC
President and Director of Legal Operations at Google. “Her experience, perspective, and focus are exactly what we need. She can help us build the world-class organization we need to support our members and expand our reach.”

Among other responsibilities, Roach will focus on improving digital experience, expanding
membership, and facilitating the development of relevant content. She will also help CLOC and its
members navigate the global shutdown caused by the COVID pandemic.

“What attracted me to this role is, more than anything else, that I believe in this community,” said
Roach. “I believe in the CLOC mission. And I like having the opportunity to be the first executive director.
It means I get to be part of creating the team and practices that will take this organization to the next
level.”

An experienced innovator and leader within the legal industry, Roach was previously Executive
Director of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA). There, she helped grow membership and revenue
dramatically, while reorganizing and transforming that organization. Her prior roles include Director of the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL) and Practice Development
Manager with Farella Braun + Martel, LLP.

“This is a really exciting time in legal operations,” said Roach. “From moving away from the billable
hour, to streamlining and redefining value chains, to improving the way we use data and technology,
there are so many big opportunities. Our industry needs smart, driven people sharing ideas and
collaborating on solutions. And that is what CLOC is all about.”
