SEC Commissioner Nominees Scheduled for Senate Hearing

The Securities and Exchange Commission is one step closer to having a full complement of commissioners now that the Senate Banking Committee has scheduled an Oct. 24 hearing for nominees Hester Peirce and Robert Jackson.

Peirce is a senior research fellow at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center and Jackson is a professor at Columbia Law School.

The agency has two vacancies under Chairman Jay Clayton.

Another commissioner, Kara Stein, is still serving in a term that ended in June. The agency hasn’t had five commissioners since October 2015, when Daniel Gallagher left the agency.
