FREMONT, Calif.--()--Lecorpio, the leader in intellectual property (IP) management and analytics software solutions, announced today that Doug Luftman has joined the company as Chief Innovation Officer and General Counsel. Before joining Lecorpio to take this newly-created position, Doug was Vice President of Innovation Services and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at NetApp, Inc. and, prior to that held similar roles at CBS Corporation and Palm, Inc.

As Chief Innovation Officer and General Counsel, Doug’s role at Lecorpio will be two-fold. He will leverage his thorough understanding of issues facing in-house IP attorneys, their outside counsel and other legal service providers to drive the company’s corporate and product strategy. He will work in collaboration with Lecorpio’s product, client services, marketing, and sales teams. Also, Doug will advise the company on legal matters.

Doug first encountered Lecorpio when at Palm, Inc., a Silicon Valley innovation leader in the handheld device and smartphone industry. While at Palm, Doug was instrumental in influencing the early direction of the Lecorpio platform. The Lecorpio platform enabled Palm to be more efficient and competitive in a growing and litigious industry, and the solution helped Palm establish its IP prowess. Ultimately, Palm was sold in 2010 to Hewlett Packard for $1.4 billion with its patent portfolio viewed as a key factor in its valuation.

Doug said, “When I first saw the Lecorpio platform, I knew that it would be a game changer for any company that embraced it. The solution provides companies with a high-octane platform to help achieve strategic IP goals and meet operational objectives especially in demanding, competitive markets. By joining Lecorpio and working with such a talented executive team and strong software solution, I look forward to building upon the excellent foundation already established so that we can ascend even higher.”

CEO Jay Madsen commented, “We are thrilled to have Doug Luftman join our Lecorpio executive team. His talent, versatility and experience will unquestionably have great impact on our company. Doug’s deep experience in all facets of the legal and business aspects of IP and his ability to translate that knowledge into enhanced and new service offerings is sure to provide an invaluable resource for our client base.
