• The United States and the UK have longpushed for India to open its legal sector to foreign firms . An Indian official said on June 29 that the government is in talks with the Bar Council of India and other concerned parties to consider such an opening, but that any changes would be limited and could take five years or longer. Observers said foreign firms could be allowed to provide services on consultation and drafting of agreements, but would still be barred from litigation in India. (dna India)
