Last year there were a record number of law firm mergers recorded by Altman Weil’s MergerLine, the highest annual volume since the organization began tracking in 2007, though there were few huge headline-making tie-ups.
Small Firms: In 2019, Altman Weil said nearly 90 percent of the deals were acquisitions of firms with between two and 20 lawyers. The average overall size of acquired firms was 18 lawyers, a drop from the prior year.
