Your Next New Client is Visiting Your Website on a Cell Phone

Posted by Larry Bodine | Nov 22, 2019 | 0 Comments

Smartphones now account for fully 70% of total time spent with digital media, according to a new report from Comscore. This means your next new client is visiting your website on their phone -- and not on a tablet or desktop.

Potential clients are using their cell phone apps to call Uber, check social media and order food delivery. So it makes sense that they would also use their smartphone to visit your attorney website. Many of those people you see looking downward can be looking for an attorney to handle their personal injury lawsuit, buy a property or file a whistleblower complaint.

Your website is mobile-friendly, right? Attorney websites must be mobile-friendly. Essential elements include:

  • Easily readable text
  • Click to call button
  • E-mail firm button
  • Interactive map button
  • Easy drop-down navigation
  • Handy menu button

(All websites built by LawLytics are mobile-friendly and 100% desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone compatible.) If your website is not mobile-friendly, call us at (800) 713-0161.

Consider the following statistics in a new Zenith worldwide report:

  • The average amount of time people around the world spend accessing the mobile internet has risen to 1 hour and 10 minutes per day.
  • Television viewing has fallen to 1 hour and 45 minutes of viewing each day in 2019. (Time spent on mobile devices is forecast to overtake TV in 2021.)
  • Desktop internet use has fallen to 40 minutes per day
  • The average time spent reading print newspapers has fallen to 11 minutes per day.

The smartphone's dominance over desktop comes with a new report from Pew Research Institute revealing that the number of smartphone owners in the US exceeds the number with home broadband. Other research from Pew noted that the number of Americans who go online using their smartphones is increasing.

Young generations, of course, heavily use their digital media time on mobile devices. But so to Baby Boomers.

“What may be more remarkable is the amount of time older Americans are spending with smartphone apps. Comscore's research found that just less than two-thirds (65%) of the time that younger Boomers (55-64-year-olds) spend with digital media is spent on smartphone apps. This matches the amount of digital media time that 44-54-year-olds spend with smartphone apps. Smartphone adoption is likely a large driver here: per the Pew Research Institute, nearly 7 in 10 Baby Boomers in the US now own a smartphone,” Marketing Charts reports.
