Canadian Intellectual Property Office Extends All Deadlines to May 1, 2020

03/30/2020

 –

As expected, as part of its ongoing efforts to manage the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) has prolonged the automatic extension period beyond the original April 1, 2020 date.

Any deadlines fixed under the Trademarks Act, Patent Act, and the Industrial Design Act falling between March 16, 2020 and April 30, 2020 have now been extended to May 1, 2020. Once again, CIPO has noted that it may prolong the extension period beyond that date should these circumstances continue.
