Brent Hicks has joined the ranks of the law firm of Baker Donelson as a shareholder in the Firm's Construction Group in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Hicks concentrates his practice in construction litigation, commercial litigation, and government contracting.

"Brent is a formidable litigator, having handled the full spectrum of issues encountered by clients involved in large-scale construction projects and government contracting disputes." Mr. Hicks has more than 20 years of experience in representing owners, contractors, subcontractors, insurers, engineers, designers, architects, and other industry professionals in all aspects of construction law. He also advises clients through all stages of construction projects, including preparing and negotiating contracts, as well as dispute avoidance or resolution.
His complex litigation experience is focused in commercial and industrial construction disputes, including disruption, acceleration, construction defect, and design defect claims. Mr. Hicks also has significant trial and arbitration experience with large, high-risk construction, commercial, and real estate transaction cases. He has represented clients before international tribunals, arbitration panels, state and federal district courts, multiple state appellate courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, en banc.
In his government contracting work, Mr. Hicks serves as counsel to clients in public bid disputes related to federal, state, and local construction projects and procurements, where he evaluates and negotiates proposals, bids, and contracts. He has also served as counsel to several government agencies, including the State of Louisiana and its agencies and retirement systems.
Mr. Hicks was previously a partner with McGlinchey Stafford, where he served as co-chair of the Government Contracts and Construction Practice Groups. He received his law degree from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University. He earned the Certified Public Accountant designation (inactive status) from Louisiana State University.
