WASHINGTON, DC (November 28, 2022) – Venable LLP is pleased to announce that Jennifer Bruton, a partner in the Real Estate Practice, will succeed Brian L. Schwalb as partner-in-charge of the Washington, DC office.

Ms. Bruton is a real estate attorney representing clients in all aspects of sophisticated commercial real estate finance, acquisition, disposition, development, and leasing projects. She has significant experience in capital formation for real estate investments, including joint ventures, mezzanine financing, commercial loans and securitized financing transactions, EB-5 financing, and preferred equity transactions. She assists clients in the acquisition, development, and financing of a variety of real estate projects in multiple asset categories, including residential and commercial developments, office buildings, retail and shopping centers, and multifamily housing, and represents entrepreneurial and institutional investors. She also advises clients on DC's Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act.
Ms. Bruton currently serves as chair of Women Attorneys at Venable (WAVe), whose mission is to improve the rate of retention, promotion, and advancement of women attorneys within the firm, and to increase the number and strength of women attorney applicants. She is also the administrative partner of Venable's DC office and a member of the firm's Opinion Letter Committee. Ms. Bruton formerly served as the hiring partner of the firm's DC office.
