Minnesota-Dakotas Chapter of AILA Recognizes Stinson with 2022 AILA Pro Bono Champion Award

Press Release
06.22.2022

The Minnesota-Dakotas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has honored Stinson LLP with its 2022 AILA Chapter Pro Bono Champions Award. The award recognizes those who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to providing pro bono assistance through worthy initiatives.

The firm was selected for its exceptional contributions to immigrant rights and pro bono legal representation. In recent years, a Stinson team of lawyers led by Partners Dennis Lane and Harvey Reiter worked with The Advocates for Human Rights on multiple initiatives, including affirmative asylum, T-visas, removal proceedings and pro bono representation in litigation and appeals. The team contributed nearly 650 hours to these efforts in 2021.

"Stinson attorneys exceed expectations in representing clients and protecting immigrant rights on an individual and national level," Pro Bono Counsel for The Advocates for Human Rights Theresa Dykoschak said. "The staff of The Advocates for Human Rights is honored to work with these dedicated, hard-working, and caring volunteers and we are fortunate to have a law firm that is so committed to immigrant rights," Director of the Refugee & Immigrant Program at The Advocates for Human Rights Sarah Brenes added.

The AILA is a national, nonpartisan, not-for-profit association of immigration lawyers established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members. AILA member attorneys represent U.S. families seeking permanent residence for close family members, as well as U.S. businesses seeking talent from the global marketplace. AILA members also represent foreign students, entertainers, athletes and asylum seekers, often on a pro bono basis.
