Anti-Abortion Pregnancy Centers Are Collecting Troves of Data That Could Be Weaponized Against Women

Healthcare and Data Privacy attorney Shannon Hartsfield was quoted by TIME Magazine about the lack of regulation of certain pregnancy centers in the U.S. Since some of these centers may not be subject to federal privacy regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), confidential information about clients is at greater risk of being compromised. With extensive experience in corporate compliance and data privacy, Ms. Hartsfield shared her insights on the matter.

"They may say, 'Oh, we keep everything confidential,' but it's going to be hard to know for sure without legal standards," she said.
