On June 17, 2022, a federal jury in the District of Massachusetts ruled in favor of Finnegan client Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, finding that General Electric infringed a Siemen’s patent covering offshore wind turbines. Siemen asserted two patents against General Electric. The jury awarded Siemens a running reasonable royalty rate of $30,000 per megawatt for the infringed patent while ruling the other to be invalid. Finnegan partners Cory Bell and Alissa Lipton, who are both resident in the firm’s Boston office, represented Siemens in the case.
