The rate of artificial intelligence (AI) patent applications filed annually has doubled between 2002 and 2019. In an episode of MassDevice and Medical Design and Outsourcing’s DeviceTalks Tuesdays, Finnegan partner Anthony Del Monaco discusses how to protect AI intellectual property.
Anthony notes, “Why do you need to protect this IP? The primary reason is because if you don’t protect it, you may lose it.” Anthony further suggests that AI companies can protect IP using both patents and trade secrets, emphasizing that “the real takeaway is to make sure you get protection.”
