For every major law firm in the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown up unprecedented challenges. But when you are the largest law firm in the world by head count, with more than 10,000 lawyers and more than 180 offices, the logistics become even more complicated.

For Joe Andrew, global chair at Dentons, the questions came earlier than for most other firms, not least because the firm has a base in Wuhan, China, where the COVID-19 pandemic originated. By the start of February the firm had vacated its premises there. Within months the firm had joined many others in enacting widespread remote working policies. By July, it had closed some offices for good.
