Matt Abell and Kevin McAdam Share Insights on the Firm's Virtual Summer Clerk Program

Holland & Hart Partner and Recruitment Committee Chair Matt Abell and Summer Clerk Committee Chair Kevin McAdam share insights on the firm’s virtual Summer Clerk Program.

Abell and McAdam were quoted in Law Week Colorado’s Sept. 7 Legal Education article entitled, “Learning the Ropes Remotely.” The article discusses how law firms found silver linings amidst the challenges of the pandemic as they designed virtual summer programs. Abell discussed how there was more interaction with all of the summer clerks, across offices, giving the clerks a lot more exposure to the attorneys across the firm. McAdam added the remote social events fostered more personal connections and participation among the attorneys and the students.

Kevin McAdam was quoted in Law360’s Sept. 7 article entitled, “Summer Associates Give Firms An 'A' On Virtual Programs.” The article outlined the results of Law360’s survey of 170 summer associates that showed most students reported a positive experience with the shortened, remote programs. "By having an online program, the summer clerks were able to meet folks from other offices in a way they normally wouldn't," McAdam said. "This showed us the utility of providing them with some opportunities to engage in a firmwide summer class. Some developed relationships with folks they wouldn't have otherwise had the chance to know."
