NEW YORK, September 15, 2020 – Brown Rudnick LLP is pleased to announce that we have achieved Mansfield Certification for 2020, an important milestone in our Equity, Inclusion and Diversity efforts. As one of the 100+ law firms that signed on to participate in Mansfield Rule 3.0, Brown Rudnick has demonstrated its continuing commitment to moving the needle on diversity and inclusion.

Under the Mansfield Rule 3.0, law firms committed to affirmatively consider at least 30 percent women, lawyers of color and LGBTQ+ lawyers for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities and senior lateral positions. The goal of the Mansfield Rule is to increase representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership by broadening the pool of candidates considered for those opportunities.

“This is Brown Rudnick’s first year participating in the Mansfield program and we are incredibly pleased with reaching this important milestone. This is an important step in our effort to make sure our firm’s leadership reflects the diverse talents throughout our organization” says Bill Baldiga, Brown Rudnick’s CEO. “Our participation in Mansfield has truly fostered meaningful internal discussion about how we operate as a firm. While we are certainly not done, we remain committed to making leadership opportunities more accessible to our lawyers and doing our part to increase equity, inclusion and diversity in the legal profession."

The rule is named after Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to the practice of law in the United States. It traces its origin to the 2016 Women in Law Hackathon hosted by Diversity Lab in collaboration with Bloomberg Law and Stanford Law School.
