James Muenker joins DLA Piper's Restructuring practice in Dallas

DLA Piper announced today that James Muenker has joined the firm’s Restructuring practice as a partner in Dallas.

Muenker has more than 20 years of experience representing publicly and privately held companies, boards of directors, bondholders, equity security holders and creditors in a variety of restructuring matters, including major bankruptcy cases, and other transactions.

“James is a well-known and seasoned restructuring professional who brings depth to our national practice and is a key addition as Texas continues to grow as a restructuring venue,” said Thomas Califano, US chair and global co-chair of DLA Piper’s Restructuring practice. “His clients will benefit tremendously from our platform and depth of resources, and we are pleased to welcome him on board.”

“We have expanded our presence in Dallas significantly over the past several years to meet market demand, and the addition of James will increase our restructuring capabilities throughout Texas as we continue to strategically grow in the region,” added Marc Katz, managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office.

“I am delighted to join Tom and the rest of the Restructuring group at DLA Piper,” said Muenker. “Having had the opportunity to work with them over the years, I know they share my approach to restructuring matters by combining practical advice with creative strategies to maximize results for stakeholders. I look forward to helping them grow the Restructuring practice in Texas and nationally.”

Muenker joins DLA Piper from Neligan LLP, a business bankruptcy boutique in Dallas. He previously worked in the Dallas offices of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP and Andrews Kurth LLP. He received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Oklahoma Law School and his B.S. from Oklahoma State University.
