Onalee Yousey Earns Women’s Justice Award
Onalee Yousey, an associate in Armstrong Teasdale’s Litigation practice group, has been recognized by Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly with a Women’s Justice Award. The 26th annual awards highlight women across Missouri who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession.
Yousey has an active civil litigation practice and was recognized in the Pro Bono/Social Justice category. She most recently argued a pro bono matter before the Missouri Court of Appeals, which came to the firm through a program with the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis that provides pro bono lawyers for unrepresented parties. The client was a waitress who lost her job due to COVID-19 and received unemployment benefits, and she appealed an administrative decision that would have required her to pay the money back. In January, Yousey presented her first oral argument on appeal and ultimately secured a favorable outcome.
During law school at Saint Louis University, Yousey represented indigent clients. She also interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri and served as a judicial extern for Judge Raymond C. Gruender of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. From 2014-2015, she served in AmeriCorps VISTA.
