Veteran Health Law Attorney Gregory Fliszar Joins Baker Donelson's Health Law Group

Gregory M. Fliszar, Ph.D., a seasoned legal advisor focusing on health law regulatory issues, has joined the national law firm of Baker Donelson as a shareholder in the Firm's Nashville office and a member of the Health Law Group.

With an emphasis on provider/payer payment disputes within the health care sector, Dr. Fliszar has significant experience in handling reimbursement-related disputes between health care providers and payers, including Medicare Advantage and other managed care organizations and government payers. Additionally, he provides advice on compliance with the Medicare Secondary Payer Act.

Dr. Fliszar also counsels health care organizations on compliance with HIPAA and other data privacy laws and regulations. He develops HIPAA and other compliance programs and provides compliance advice tailored to the unique needs of health care providers, HIPAA business associates, and liability insurers. He also offers counsel on breach analysis and response strategies and requisite reporting protocols.

Before joining Baker Donelson, Dr. Fliszar's experience included serving as vice chair of the Health Care and Life Sciences Group at a prominent international law firm and as Associate General Counsel at Universal Health Services. He has a multifaceted background as a clinical psychologist working in various inpatient and outpatient settings and as a clinical instructor of psychiatry at the MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Dr. Fliszar is an active member of the American Bar Association and has held numerous leadership roles in the Health Law Section, including serving as current vice chair of the Health Law Policy and Coordinating Committee. He was the former chair of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Disorders Interest Group and the Nursing and Allied Health Professions Task Force. In addition, Dr. Fliszar was the former co-chair of the American Bar Association's National Joint Opioid Task Force. He is also a member of the American Health Law Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Dr. Fliszar earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame and holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in clinical psychology.
