Baltimore Taps DiCello Levitt, Saltz Mongeluzzi for Key Bridge

Transportation & Infrastructure attorney Benjamin Allen was mentioned in a Law360 article regarding the recent collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge that resulted in significant loss and damages. Mr. Allen highlighted the shipowner's perspective in wanting to limit liability because of the high value of the ship and its cargo. His insights surface in the context of the city of Baltimore's decision to pursue legal action against those deemed responsible for the incident.

"From a shipowner's perspective, ships are worth tens of millions of dollars and the cargo is worth a lot, and you can do a hell of a lot of damage with a 900-foot-long ship. It makes sense from their perspective that they'd want to try and limit that [exposure to damages] because otherwise, they'd be facing claims for years from this kind of event," he said.
