Squire Patton Boggs Advises DCC plc on Acquisition of German Comm-Tec Group

Squire Patton Boggs has advised Ireland-based DCC plc on the acquisition of Comm-Tec GmbH and its affiliated companies.

Comm-Tec GmbH is based in Uhingen, east of Stuttgart in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, and is a leading supplier of professions audio visual (Pro AV) solutions to resellers and systems integrators across Europe. Comm-Tec generated €90 million revenue during the 2018 financial year, employs approximately 150 people in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Spain, and has sales operations in Eastern Europe.

Based in Dublin, DCC plc is a leading international sales, marketing and support services group with a clear focus on performance and growth. The enterprise operates in 17 countries and supplies products and services used by millions of people every day throughout Europe, North America and Asia. DCC is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100. The enterprise employs approximately 12,500 people and generated revenue of approximately £15.2 billion in 2018. DCC operates through the following four divisions: DCC LPG, DCC Retail & Oil, DCC Technology and DCC Healthcare.

Comm-Tec GmbH will become a part of Exertis, which belongs to the DCC Technology division. Exertis is the leading technology distributor of consumer, business and enterprise products from established and emerging technology brands.

Under the leadership of Berlin managing partner Volker Heidbüchel, the Squire Patton Boggs team was able to assist its longstanding client in successfully executing this transaction. The firm’s German Corporate and M&A team advises German and international technology companies on a regular basis and has been involved in many transactions in the past. “We are delighted that we were able to assist DCC plc through our international team with the implementation of its growth strategy in continental Europe,” Dr. Heidbüchel said.
