Freshfields advises EPH on its acquisition of the French assets of Uniper SE

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) is advising Energetický a průmyslový holding a.s. (‘EPH’) in relation to its acquisition of French assets of German-based energy group Uniper SE (‘Uniper’).

EPH is an integrated energy group that owns and operates energy infrastructure and power generation assets in seven European countries: Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. Headquartered in Prague, in the Czech Republic, EPH currently employs more than 25,000 people and is the largest operator of energy infrastructure in Central Europe, ranked as Europe’s sixth largest power producer.
This transaction has allowed EPH to acquire all activities and assets of Uniper in France, namely the Saint-Avold power generation site (including a 600 MW coal fired plant and two 420 MW gas fired power plants), the Gardanne power generation plant (including a 600 MW coal fired power plant and a 150 MW biomass power plant), together with six wind farms and two solar power plants totalling around 100 MW.

The Freshfields team was led by partner Olivier Rogivue, who was supported by partners Pascal Cuche, Vincent Daniel-Mayeur and Christel Cacioppo, and by counsel Carole Steimlé.
