Craig Young Authors Chapter for American Bar Association Publication

News | April 15, 2019

Kutak Rock partner Craig Young recently authored a chapter titled “The Impact of Bankruptcy” for the American Bar Association’s Biotechnology and the Law April 2019 publication.

In chapter 18, Mr. Young focuses on biotechnology and the issues surrounding start-up efforts to develop and eventually sell inventions and new ideas. He provides a primer on what generally happens in bankruptcy and specifically the creditor-debtor relationship issues that may arise when a biotechnology entity goes into bankruptcy. Questions covered throughout include issues of liability; assets, including intellectual property; and if anyone gets paid, such as banks, lenders or investors.

Biotechnology and the Law helps lawyers identify the legal issues and processes that must be faced by their clients in building, marketing, and protecting a biotech business. The contributors are experts in this specialized area and provide thorough, yet accessible, overviews of biotech subspecialties with an eye to practical application.

Mr. Young, a partner in the Washington, D.C. and Richmond offices of Kutak Rock, focuses his practice on creditors’ rights and commercial litigation and regularly represents secured and unsecured creditors. He has more than 35 years of experience helping clients in both state and federal courts throughout the United States.
