Dechert Recognized as a Diversity Leader by Profiles in Diversity Journal
Global law firm Dechert LLP has been honored as a “Diversity Leader” by Profiles in Diversity Journal for the efforts of Satra Sampson-Arokium, the firm’s Global Director of Diversity and Inclusion, and her team. The awards, now in their 11th year, recognize organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to cultivating diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace and beyond.
Dechert has implemented a number of diversity initiatives over the past year, including the design and launch of a diversity dashboard, the launch of a Diversity Champions award and the rollout of inclusive leadership training at the firm’s annual partner retreat. Dechert also joined the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, an organization made up of more than 300 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners.
Ms. Sampson-Arokium, who joined Dechert in 2017, has more than 15 years of experience developing and implementing strategic diversity and inclusion initiatives. She earned a B.A. in political science from the State University of New York at Albany, a Masters of Public Administration from Marist College and is currently a member of the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals.
As Ms. Sampson-Arokium outlined in Profiles in Diversity Journal’s winter 2018 edition, Dechert’s diversity team has achieved a number of milestones in 2018. The firm scored a perfect 100 for the sixth year in a row in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index 2018 and was also included on the 2018 Diversity Best Practices Inclusion Index. The establishment of Dechert Heroes, a veterans-focused affinity group, was also honored as an “Innovation in Diversity” by Profiles in Diversity Journal.
