Kramer Levin adds head of IP and tech from Ropes & Gray
Harry Rubin, co-leader of Ropes & Gray’s IP practice, is to join Kramer Levin’s corporate department as head of the firm’s new IP and technology transactions practice.
Rubin’s work centres on developing IP strategy, commercialising technology, and advising on transactions and financing. He has represented a range of start-ups as well as multinationals, from private equity firms, to financial institutions, to technology and life sciences companies.
He said: “I am excited by the prospect of helping Kramer Levin build out its IP and technology transactions practice and offering my unique global perspective on technology transactions.”
At Ropes & Gray, Rubin represented clients in global mergers and acquisitions as well as assisting with IP protection and commercialisation. He conducts business in English, German, French, and Hebrew, managing deals across Europe and Israel alongside his domestic work.
Rubin will be based in Kramer Levin’s New York office, and will work closely with the firm’s Paris team.
Howard Spilko, co-chair of the firm’s corporate department, said: “Clients will benefit from his strategic guidance on harnessing the value of technology for a competitive advantage as well as in technology contracts and due diligence analysis.”
Meanwhile, the firm has promoted Kristopher Kastens to the partnership in Silicon Valley, California. His practice centres on patent litigation in computer, electrical, and mechanical fields, and he has particular expertise in matters relating to computer security and application software.
