HARRISBURG, Pa. – (May 21, 2018) After winning the 2018 Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, undefeated Justify is just one race away from becoming a Triple Crown winner.  Justify is slated to race for the Triple Crown in the 2018 Belmont Stakes in New York next month.

McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC attorney Michael Doctrow and his team are representing Justify and his owners. They are handling the legal side of branding, marketing, endorsements, and sponsorships for Justify.  This means that McNees is responsible for protecting the JUSTIFY name and trademark, Justify’s image, and his owners’ logos.  McNees ensures these assets are used properly, under license, on hats, shirts, cups and other merchandise.  Doctrow and his team also will pursue counterfeiters. “This is the same type of work our team handles every day for businesses large and small, but this is on a much more expedited basis,” says Doctrow.

Doctrow has represented several Triple Crown hopefuls including, among others, Smarty Jones, Barbaro, California Chrome and Nyquist.

Doctrow is Co-Chair of the McNees Intellectual Property Practice Group, and practices trademark, copyright, trade secret and advertising law with a focus on trademark clearance, registration and protection, copyright protection, and advertising and branding strategies.  He is also a member of the McNees Food & Beverage and Racehorse Practice Groups.
