BLG Partner Elected to ACTEC

Vancouver (December 7, 2017) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP ("BLG") is pleased to announce that Peter A. Wong has been elected as an International Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel ("ACTEC"). He is the sole Canadian lawyer to be included in this year's class of International Fellows.

ACTEC is an American organization of approximately 2,500 peer-elected lawyers and law professors who are skilled and experienced in the preparation of wills and trusts, estate planning, and probate procedure; and administration of trusts and estates of decedents, minors, and incompetents. To qualify for membership, a lawyer must have no less than 10 years' experience in the active practice of probate and trust law or estate planning. Lawyers and law professors are elected to be Fellows based on their outstanding reputation, exceptional skill, and substantial contributions to the field by lecturing, writing, teaching, and participating in bar leadership or legislative activities.

Mr. Wong is a partner in the Tax Group of BLG's Vancouver office. He focuses his practice on matters involving Canadian tax issues, and typically advises domestic and international clients on the Canadian income tax aspects of estate planning, wealth management, corporate reorganizations, and investments in Canadian real estate or businesses. He has developed tax-efficient solutions for Canadians leaving Canada as well as for Canadians investing abroad. He has also assisted clients in resolving disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and has worked with taxpayers undertaking a voluntary disclosure.

BLG's Estates and Trusts Group offers clients a full range of services to help them implement plans for their protection and the protection of dependent relatives in the event of death or incapacity. BLG offers expertise in advising family-owned businesses on business succession, as well as assisting in resolving family disputes.
