New York Law Journal Names Meaghan Gragg a 2017 Rising Star

New York – Hughes Hubbard & Reed partner Meaghan Gragg has been named a 2017 Rising Star by the New York Law Journal. Meaghan is one of 30 attorneys under the age of 40 to be recognized on this year’s list for her contributions to the practice of law and the New York legal community.

Meaghan’s practice focuses on complex disputes, both in court and before arbitral tribunals. Meaghan has worked with international clients on cross-border disputes, and has extensive experience in financial institution litigation, insolvency-related litigation and the liquidation of brokerage firms. She also has experience in conducting and advising clients on internal investigations. Throughout her career, she has featured prominently in significant and high-profile matters, including the representation of the trustee for the broker-dealer liquidations of Lehman Brothers and MF Global.

Meaghan dedicates significant time to pro bono work, focusing on representing individuals seeking asylum in the United States due to sexual orientation and gender identity persecution. To date, Meaghan has successfully represented five such clients and is currently representing another two.

Meaghan also helped shape Hughes Hubbard’s diversity initiatives, including as cofounder of the firm’s LGBT Affinity Group, where she has successfully advocated for the adoption of additional LGBT-friendly policies.

Before joining the firm, Meaghan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ursula Ungaro, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida.
