Deutsch: Orrick berät WTC (Ironman) bei Kauf der Swiss Epic AG
An Orrick M&A and Private Equity team advised international triathlon organizer World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) on its acquisition of Swiss Epic AG, the organizer of the international mountain bike stage race of the same name in the Swiss Alps whose 2017 edition just came to an end.
A global market leader in endurance sports events, WTC is particularly well-known for organizing the Ironman triathlons. The Tampa, FL-based company, which is part of China's Dalian Wanda Group, manages 260 events annually in 44 countries. With the acquisition of Swiss Epic AG, WTC strengthens its position in the field of cycling, where it already organizes events such as the UCI Velothon Majors Series and various mountain bike races.
WTC was advised by a Munich-based Orrick team led by M&A and Private Equity partner Thomas Schmid, who has previously advised WTC on various transactions such as the 2016 acquisition of the Lagardère Sports and Endurance division. The team also included counsel Christoph Rödter and managing associate Andrea Köhler.
