Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has added Mark Lehmkuhler as an M&A and private equity partner at its Hong Kong office from Davis Polk & Wardwell.

Lehmkuhler’s appointment is Orrick’s fifth partner hire for its global M&A practice since June 2016. It comes after the embattled firm lost nine partners – mostly based in Hong Kong – to Morgan, Lewis & Bockius at the start of the year.

Lehmkuhler focuses on M&A and private equity transactions, debt restructurings and other complex cross-border transactions, and is experienced in the technology, energy and infrastructure, and private equity sectors.

While at Davis Polk, he led the firm’s corporate team on CITIC Capital’s $890 million buyout of AsiaInfo-Linkage, DLF Limited’s sale of the Aman luxury resorts chain, and Kerry Group’s $950 million sale of its QGX coal mine to Mongolia Mining Corp.

“Mark is a terrific addition to our Asia team, and in particular our China Corporate practice, as we focus on serving Chinese state-owned enterprises and private companies in their outbound investment activities,” said Xiang Wang, Orrick’s Asia managing partner, in a statement.
