On the back of his strong Q2 performance, which resulted in 13 million more daily users being added and a record result, Snapchat is launching a new, global advertising campaign, designed to maximize its momentum and encourage more use.

As you can see, the new campaign aims to highlight the app’s ever evolving AR features, to entice more users to try the app.

As explained by Snapchat:

“Open your Snapchat is an invitation for consumers and advertisers to fully dive into AR, unlock hundreds of personalized experiences located on each market. The campaign includes billboards, buses, websites and everything in between in numerous major cities around the world. “

The ‘Open Your Snapchat’ campaign will launch in various markets around the world, from the US, UK and Mexico, before expanding to India, a key growth region for the app.

The campaign will include extensive OOH and digital placements, including Snapcodes, revealing hundreds of personalized creative and AR lenses that will be largely city-specific. Major cities include Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, London, Los Angeles “Mexico City, Minneapolis, Mumbai, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Orlando and Tampa.”

AR has long been Snapchat’s main attraction for engaging more users, with its viral lenses as more and more people download the app and explore the face-changing tools. And while many other apps have since embraced the AR effect trend, Snap is still seeing great momentum with its AR options, even amid the rise of TikTok, as many TikTok users are actually making clips with Snap Lenses and it then upload to TikTok instead.

It then lets more people search through Snap for the latest visual trends and effects, and with Snap, more and more AR creators are also facilitated, working together redone 1.5 million lenses so far, the opportunities for new forms of expression are almost limitless, furthering the involvement and retention in the app.

As such, it’s a smart focus for this new campaign, and it should help more people to try out the many AR tools as it seeks to further strengthen the audience base.

And with AR glasses on the way, and the broader hype surrounding AR building, now seems like the right time for Snap to make a big push in this regard.
