Braintrace Expands Network Detection and Response Capabilities & Is Named in the 2020 Gartner Network Detection and Response Market Guide

Braintrace enhances capabilities of its Network Detection and Response platform, Dragonfly v2.5, to detect malware within encrypted traffic.

SALT LAKE CITY--()--Braintrace, a leading cybersecurity firm, announced the release of Version 2.5 of its Managed Network Detection and Response ({M}NDR) Platform – Dragonfly v2.5. New capabilities include proprietary engines that detect and alert to malicious threats that evade conventional perimeter devices.

Dragonfly ({M}NDR) Platform is the most effective solution for gaining insight into threats evading both firewall and endpoint security measures. Dragonfly’s enhanced features detect suspicious traffic without decrypting by instead inspecting the payload and identifying other suspicious patterns. Dragonfly’s proprietary engines detect malware with high accuracy and extremely low false positive rates. By providing Deep-Learning Prediction models, Dragonfly sensors are continually tuned to offer the following features:

  • Encrypted Payload Analytics (EPA): Real-time detection of encrypted malware communications, without the need for decryption—ensuring both data security and data privacy.
  • Domain Generated Algorithm Detection (DGA): Real-time detection of malware generated domains.
  • Session Risk Analytics (SRA): Real-time detection of risky metadata characteristics. The Dragonfly Platform goes above and beyond the traditional DPI-based systems.

“We are excited about Dragonfly v2.5 and its detection and response capabilities,” said Bret Laughlin, Braintrace Founder and CEO. Furthermore, Laughlin stated, “Being named in the ‘Other Vendors That We Are Tracking’ section of the 2020 Gartner Market Guide for Network Detection and Response, validates our tool and the use of techniques such as the process of analyzing characteristics found in the packets, including sequence of length, time, and duration.”

Built for visibility, Dragonfly can identify more than 250 unique protocols and applications by utilizing an approach that employs both traditional metadata extraction techniques and real-time, deep-learning prediction models, bringing North-South and East-West traffic to the forefront.

Dragonfly can be deployed independently as a managed offering or as an integrated component of Braintrace’s Managed Detection and Response ({M}NDR) service.

Braintrace was named in the 2020 Gartner Market Guide for Network Detection and Response (‘Other Vendors We Are Tracking’ section).
