The data analysts firm NetMarketShare revealed that Windows 10 has seen another uptake in users and it went up to 64.04% from 61.26% last month. Linux (multiple distros) went from 1.14% to 1.65% and Ubuntu now holds a market share of 0.51%
The market share of Windows 7 has also dropped, but many users are still actively using outdated Windows 7, which could be due to its huge number of enterprise users.
According to NetMarketShare, Windows 7 saw a drop from 22.77% to 20.41% last month. The report shows that 20.41% of desktops still use Windows 7. Even worse, some are still using Windows XP, according to the report.
As of October 2020, the market share of Windows XP is 0.87%. On the other hand, macOS X 10.15 recorded a minor drop as it declined from 5.11% to 4.88% and
Windows 7 upgrade offer
According to tests done by BleepingComputer, Microsoft is still allowing Windows 7 users to upgrade to Windows 10 for free using the Media Creation Tool.
You can potentially get a free upgrade to future versions of Windows by following the steps outlined in our article.
When you use Media Creation Tool to do an in-place upgrade, your older license is automatically converted to a Windows 10 digital license and it is linked to your Microsoft account.
Once done, you can always reinstall Windows 10 or upgrade your hardware without paying Microsoft.
It is not known how long Microsoft will allow this Windows 10 upgrade loophole to exist, so if you are running Windows 7, it is suggested you take advantage of it while you can.

Win 10 upgrade loophole is likely forever as Win 10 users are not customers, they are a captive target market ready to have all sorts of paid subscriptions, apps and ads foisted on them.
Not that using Win 7 is a great idea anymore, but it's good to go into Win 10 eyes open wide about Microsoft's intentions when you use their new operating systems.

Its quite easy to mitigate most spying and ads in windows 10, for free.

Its quite impossible to mitigate ALL spying and ads in windows 10 (free or otherwise).
And that's why I still use Windows XP
Total control and easy mitigation of all Microsoft problems (online or off)

That's like saying "I've avoided all modern car problems by driving a 1915 Model T." I need to use the latest versions of Adobe, Autodesk, and Microsoft software. They will not run on Windows XP anymore, and for good reason. It's horribly out of date, a wide open target to modern hacking, and useless for what I want to do.

That's easy to solve!
I can boot to Windows XP, or Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 or Linux on the same computer without using a multiboot disk and switch Operating Systems as quickly as you can reboot your computer
Why can't you?

The question isn't "why can't you?" but "why would I want to?"

"The question isn't "why can't you?" but "why would I want to?""
That is a question only YOU can answer
For me, it's SECURITY, Software Compatibility, Stability and saving thousands of dollars replacing software that I already have and works fine, with backdoor'd buggy crap that merely creates more problems when using Malware Platform 10
I don't follow the fake news that the sky will fall and everyone around me is in immediate danger should I choose to run XP
I prefer to deny Microsoft access to my data and secure my own Operating System instead of leaving my security to complete strangers as you do with Windows 10
You are not allowed to secure your own system with Windows 10 and you cannot deny Microsoft access to your system yet remain online
You must now rely on a Corporation to do the right thing "for you"
It ain't gonna happen!
Every time you trust complete strangers to provide your security, you have none!
You can pay for your own enslavement if you wish, but I prefer actual security, full user control and rock solid stability (not a single bluescreen in over 10 years)

How do you switch

I just love how XP's market share isn't that far behind the last two versions of MacOS and Linux; also how it's higher than ChromeOS.

Multiple hard drives. Install windows on each and choose which one during boot to go into while windows is loading.

I laugh with the arguments that some users of Desktops make, mainly the users of Linux, they live posting all of their lives on youtube, Facebook, Snapchat or Instagram Or any other social network, post where they are, what they are going to do, but they are furious and appalled when Microsoft needs to collect some information about his hardware that is for his own online security, thus showing a mixture of hypocrisy, falsehood and misinformation in relation to Windows.
