Even with two topics a day some days, so many topics, so little time. Let’s face it: between “tried and true” email, text messages and various messaging apps, there are more ways to send messages than ever before. But, which one (or ones) are most secure? Here’s an article from Ricoh’s Intelligent eDiscovery blog that discusses six alternatives and how secure each of them are.
In How secure are your private messages? Six top platforms ranked., written by Chris Plauschinn, the author highlights some of the most popular messaging platforms, and he also provides helpful tips on what you should watch for when it comes to texting securely. There are so many messaging apps these days that you could write a novel on them, so Chris picks six of them (seven if you count the two text messaging apps separately). Chris discusses iMessage and Android text message apps, as well as Email, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp (whose parent company is also Facebook, hmmm), Telegram and Signal. He describes considerations for each and gives you a bottom line as to what they mean to you from a security standpoint. So, which one is the most secure?
