In Celebration of SCOTUS Title VII Ruling, Casetext Offers Free Access to Compose Automation for Title VII Motions

Compose pairs litigator insights with machine learning technology to assist attorneys in drafting custom Title VII briefs

San Francisco, CA — Casetext, the legal technology company behind CARA A.I. and Compose litigation automation, today announces they will be providing free access to the Compose brief automation for Title VII motions through the rest of the summer. The company was inspired to launch the free access program in celebration of the Supreme Court’s historic ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County

Compose, the litigation automation technology Casetext released earlier this year, enables attorneys to focus their efforts on strategy and persuasion by automating out the rote, repetitive elements of brief-writing. Attorneys who would like to use Compose to assist in drafting Title VII briefs can sign up for free access at https://compose.law/title-vii/.

“We are thrilled by the recent Title VII ruling and wanted to do something meaningful to celebrate,” says Jake Heller, Casetext’s CEO and co-founder. “We hope that access to this technology will empower the attorneys who are on the ground in the fight against discrimination.”

This program closely follows Casetext’s announcement earlier this month that, in support of the Black Lives Matter protests, they are offering free access to their legal research platform to attorneys who are providing pro bono representation to victims of excessive police force as well as protestors and journalists arrested while exercising their First Amendment rights. (Attorneys interested in this program can request access at https://casetext.com/pro-bono.)

“We believe the legal industry — including legal technology companies like ours — has a responsibility to advance justice,” says Heller. “As part of transforming the legal research space, we want to be part of making it the norm and not the exception for legal technology companies to become active participants in issues of social justice. It is our responsibility to make sure the technology we develop is in the hands of those who can use it to expand access to justice, particularly to marginalized and disadvantaged communities.”

About Casetext:

Casetext is a legal technology company that automates critical elements of legal practice in order to empower attorneys to provide consistently high-quality and cost-effective representation. CEO Jake Heller left practice as a litigator at Ropes & Gray to found Casetext in 2013. He was soon joined by co-founders (and fellow attorneys) Pablo Arredondo (CPO) and Laura Safdie (COO & GC). In 2016, Casetext released its comprehensive legal research platform — now used by over 5,000 U.S. law firms — which leverages A.I. technology to automate much of legal research. In 2020, Casetext made the next big leap in litigation automation with Compose: first-of-its-kind technology that automates substantive elements of litigation.
