Hi everyone,

In this series, CRob and I had the opportunity to talk to some amazing folks who either participated in an Intel academic program or who received an Intel academic award. Collaborating with academic researchers is extremely important as is creating opportunities for learning from each other. For more information on these and other programs, visit our Academic Research & Community Outreach page.

First up is Yossi Oren, Senior Lecturer at Ben Gurion University. Yossi took a sabbatical from teaching to spend a year working in Intel’s iSTARE team.

In this next video, we talk to Priya Naphade, a student at Princeton University, who was one of the many participants in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). Through REU, Intel partners with leading academic institutions to provide hands-on guidance to help students gain experience in security and privacy research. Join us as Priya talks about her experience in the program.

Next up is the winning team of the 2022 Intel Hardware Security Academic Award. Their paper on “A Formal Approach to Confidentiality Verification in SoCs at the Register Transfer Level” received the $75,000 first prize.

The winning team included:

  • Johannes Müller, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern
  • Mohammad R. Fadiheh, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern
  • Anna Lena Duque Antón, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern
  • Thomas Eisenbarth, Professor, Universität zu Lübeck
  • Dominik Stoffel, Apl. Professor, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern
  • Wolfgang Kunz, Professor, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern

Last but not least, Webster Professor Srinivas Devadas (MIT) and Professor Edward Suh (Cornell) were the winners of the Test of Time Award for their paper “AEGIS: Architecture for Tamper-Evident and Tamper-Resistant Processing”, published in 2003. Tune in to hear why Professor Srini said that winning the award was one of the best days of his life.
