“Coalition Publica is committed to working with partners to improve metadata quality as an essential component of open scholarly infrastructure.

Ensuring accurate identification of a journal’s content to improve its discoverability, access, dissemination, preservation, and, arguably, research impact is an ongoing process that we undertake in collaboration with journals and libraries. To that end, Coalition Publica is pleased to announce two updates on its efforts in this area.

Our Report on Progress (available in English only) provides an overview of some of the work the Coalition Publica team has advanced in regard to the recommendations made in the technical report Metadata Feedback for Coalition Publica (available in English only). The technical report produced by the Metadata Working Group provided valuable insight on emerging trends in scholarly publication metadata that Coalition Publica will continue to work on in the coming years.

We have also recently released a new version of the guide Preparing quality metadata in OJS. This publication released in January and available in English and French, aims to clarify Érudit’s requirements and facilitate understanding of best practices for providing high-quality metadata in OJS. We hope it will make it easier for journals involved in Coalition Publica, particularly multilingual ones, to find answers to their questions in making best use of OJS.

Metadata quality has been and will continue to be a priority within Coalition Publica’s national infrastructure for digital scholarly publishing and research dissemination.
