Legal scrutiny

The Artificial Intelligence and Automated Systems (AI/AS) Practice Group is led by Palo Alto intellectual property partner Mark Lyon. “As Artificial Intelligence becomes more sophisticated, more widely accepted and more embedded in our economy, legal scrutiny in the US of the potential uses and effects of these technologies has also been increasing,” said Ken Doran, chairman and managing partner of Gibson Dunn. 

Multi-disciplinary

Mr Doran explained, ‘clients are seeking guidance from counsel who can tackle these legal and regulatory developments and the implications for companies developing or using products based on these technologies.’ He added, ‘the legal issues surrounding AI technologies are complex and multi-disciplinary.  Given the rapid pace of AI development, it is critical to our clients that they be represented by counsel who are not just on top of the laws and regulations, but also have a fundamental understanding of the underlying technology.’
