Corporate law departments are no longer the only ones leveraging nontraditional legal services from outside providers. Many law firms are now also using Alternative Legal Service Providers (ALSPs) to address client demands, control costs, help with scaling, and to provide access to technologies and professional expertise.

SILICON VALLEY, Calif. (PRWEB) January 18, 2018

BlackStone Discovery's VP of National Markets, John Munro, will be speaking at Legaltech 2018 as part of a panel addressing The Rise of Alternative Legal Service Providers. The panel, which will be moderated by Fenwick & West's Technology and eDiscovery expert Robert Brownstone, is CLE eligible and will provide varying perspectives into the impact that ALSPs have on how legal work gets done. Legal Innovation thought leaders like Gail Gottenhrer, Howard Hoffman, Sylvie Stulic, and Tom Finke round out a panel that is sure to impress.

With the rise of a new digital age, alternative legal service providers have shown that they are here to stay. What began as individual service offerings leveraged primarily by corporate law departments has now become a value add for law firms as well. Partnerships with alternative legal service providers are helping leading firms to address client demands, control costs, scale in strengths, and utilize technologies and subject matter experts. Many ALSPs are also providing the newest and greatest legal technology solutions, forcing firms and corporations to engage them or be left behind.

"Companies and law firms alike are realizing that ALSPs like BlackStone provide the expertise they need for areas they are not yet comfortable with," Munro said. "We're helping companies like Adobe and Hulu directly to protect their intellectual property and law firms like WSGR to harness the newest and greatest discovery technology."

The Legaltech session will discuss the historical, current, and future landscape for the use of ALSPs and dive into the various benefits you can receive from transitioning portions or all of your legal services to alternative providers. The panel will debate the driving force and considerations behind working with ALSPs, as well as the supervisory obligations to be aware of. Attendees will benefit from practical guidance for law firms and corporate legal departments looking to incorporate ALSPs, a la carte or in bulk, into their business.
