Nuance Communications, Inc., a leading provider of speech and imaging solutions, today announced that its scanning workflow software, cost recovery solutions, and speech recognition technology for the legal industry yet again topped their respective categories in the 2015 International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Technology Survey.
The survey, which reports the input of 420 firms representing more than 88,000 attorneys and 185,000 total users, ranked Nuance eCopy ShareScan and Nuance Copitrak as the two leading document scanning workflow products; Nuance Power PDF and Nuance PDF Pro as the second and third leading solutions for editing and redacting PDFs; Nuance Copitrak and Nuance Equitrac Professional as the two leading cost recovery solutions; and Nuance’s Dragon for desktop as the leading voice-to-text technology.
“Increasing workflow efficiencies, lowering costs and ensuring compliance are the keys to success for modern law firms, and the impact technology has had on outdated processes is increasingly apparent in the legal industry,” said Chris Strammiello, VP, Global Alliances & Strategic Marketing at Nuance. “With 42 percent of respondents indicating that security is their top technology issue, Nuance enables firms to securely gain control of their information in a productive, cost-effective manner.”
In the document scanning category, Nuance solutions collectively were used by 44 percent of respondents. Nuance eCopy ShareScan was ranked the top software, used by 19 percent of firms. Also of note, Nuance Copitrak, the second-leading scanning software, increased its share to 18 percent. These products have been named the leader all five years that ILTA has included this category in their survey. Nuance’s document scanning solutions streamline paper and office processes and, in turn, increase productivity of employees and business applications – all while lowering overhead costs.
For the second time, ILTA asked respondents which software they primarily use for editing and redacting PDF files. Thirty-five percent reported using Nuance PDF solutions (Nuance PDF Pro, Nuance Power PDF, and Nuance eCopy PaperWorks) – an increase from last year’s 28 percent. These solutions simplify conversion, editing, annotation and sharing of documents from any application with features including custom stamping and form data exports. PDF solutions also enable law firms to improve security – an area 42 percent of survey responders report is one of the top three technology issues at their firm.
Nuance is also the leader in cost recovery with Nuance Copitrak and Equitrac Professional. Combined, more than 60 percent of all law firms that participated in the survey rely on Nuance solutions to recover costs associated with document printing, photocopying, and long-distance calls. With these solutions, law firms can easily manage client-billable expenses, track costs and record client’s information for every service provided.
