Sidley Austin adds partner from King & Spalding

Tom Duley has joined Sidley Austin after spending nearly five years at King & Spalding.

He joins the firm as a partner in its global life sciences practice, and will be based in San Francisco, California.

Duley assists life sciences, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies in areas such as IP licensing, sponsorship, litigation settlements, and mergers and acquisitions. He has advised clients in cross-border transactions, including those involving product commercialisation deals in China.

In addition to his IP work, Duley has experience advising international and domestic clients on strategic partnering, commercial transactions, and supply/manufacturing agreements. His clients have included academic institutions and large public corporations.

Duley has worked at law firms DLA Piper, Morgan Lewis, and Latham & Watkins, and he also served as in-house corporate counsel at PDL BioPharma, the IP arm of medical technology company Protein Design Labs, for two years.

Sharon Flanagan, partner and member of the firm’s executive committee, said: “Tom’s addition is confirmation of Sidley’s ongoing commitment to delivering the full spectrum of services to clients in the life sciences space.”
