Jones Day has recruited Katsumi Shirai as a transaction partner in Tokyo from Japan’s TMI Associates. 

Shirai’s practice focuses on real estate, M&A and private equity transactions. He has experience in securitisation matters, liquidations, real estate investment trusts (REITs) and infrastructure investment trusts. He has also been involved in renewable energy projects such as solar power ever since the this business was established in Japan. 

Jones Day will also relocate transaction partner Gregory Salathé from its Singapore office to Tokyo. He acts for private equity and hedge funds in their downstream investments in Japan and around Asia. He also advises multinational corporations in their Asia investments as well as Asian companies investing in Europe and the U.S.  

Shirai and Salathé will join Maxwell Fox, who joined the firm from Ropes & Gray as an IP partner last year.
