The New York-based Mr Lacovara was promoted to Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer’s leadership team at the beginning of the year as part of a management restructure which created a four-piece executive partner team underneath joint managing partners Chris Pugh and Stephan Eilers and senior partner Edward Braham. He has hitherto been responsible for managing the firm’s global business services functions, as well as tweaking the firm’s client-service delivery and operational efficiency models. Now, Mr Lacovara has announced that he will be leaving Freshfields to join the New York office of rival firm Latham & Watkins as a partner in its litigation and trial department. A brief statement from Mr Pugh thanked Michael for his service to Freshfields, but did not elaborate further on the departure.
