This announcement builds on the existing momentum and ambition of the firm in the region evidenced by the promotion of three new partners in 2016.

Global Managing Partner Matthew Layton commented, "We are excited to welcome this outstanding group of new leaders for the firm and are proud we have so many remarkable professionals in the region. Asia Pacific is more important than ever to our clients. Every one of these new leaders shares a common quality; they are each expressly focussed on the needs of our clients, and committed to staying close to the issues that influence business success.

"I congratulate Stephen on a long and distinguished career at Clifford Chance and thank him for his dedication and contribution. He has been a tremendous asset to the firm, consistently demonstrating steady and thoughtful leadership. I'd also like to thank Mark and Matthew for their outstanding leadership.

"In China, I'm certain Tim and Terence will be a very strong team and we will continue to maintain our top position in and commitment to that market. In Singapore, Kai assumes the position as Office Managing Partner with a strong ambition shared by the entire team.

"Our new co-heads of Finance, Anthony and Nick will make a wonderful team. I'm certain our Finance practice will continue to thrive under their leadership. Nish assumes the Head of L&DR position armed with many years of experience and strong relationships with the firm's clients in this space."
