Clifford Chance Africa Academy September session marks third year of initiative
The Africa Academy, launched by leading international law firm Clifford Chance (CC), holds its 10th session in Lagos marking its third year running. The most recent session, held on the 10th and 11th of September this year, covered a variety of topics under the corporate, and litigation and dispute resolution (L&DR) practices. These included due diligence, SPAs, shareholder's agreements and international arbitration. Ten firms from Nigeria and Ghana participated in the session with a total of more than 50 participants spread across the 2 days.
Clifford Chance Africa Academy (CCAA) provides free high level training to talented associates with relationship firms in Africa. Led by CC partners and associates, the training sessions are both practical and interactive and offer an opportunity for participants to network with practitioners from other African jurisdictions, enhance knowledge sharing and management processes as well as exchange insights on current legal topics and market practice.
Since September 2013, CCAA has held 10 on-the ground sessions covering 7 countries in North, South, East and West Africa. A total of 244 participants from 63 law firms across 20 African countries have now participated in the training covering topics such as banking, project finance, capital markets, corporate and dispute resolution. Clifford Chance has had 22 partners from across a number of sectors, practice groups and offices lead sessions for the Africa Academy since the start of the initiative with great success.

La "Clifford Chance Africa Academy" ("CCAA"), lancée par le cabinet d'avocats international Clifford Chance en septembre 2013, a tenu sa 10ème édition à Lagos au Nigéria en septembre 2015. Cette session de formations a couvert divers sujets liés aux pratiques Corporate et arbitrage tels que l'audit, les accords de vente et d'achat, les pactes d'actionnaires et l'arbitrage international. Dix cabinets d'avocats du Ghana et du Nigéria ont participé à cette session qui a rassemblé plus de 50 participants sur deux jours.
La "Clifford Chance Africa Academy" offre des formations de qualité à des avocats talentueux de cabinets d'avocats partenaires en Afrique. Animées par des associés et collaborateurs de Clifford Chance, les formations, qui sont à la fois interactives et concrètes, offrent une opportunité aux participants d'échanger avec des confrères d'autres pays en Afrique, de renforcer le partage de connaissances, d'améliorer les processus de gestion, et d'échanger leurs points de vue sur des sujets juridiques d'actualité et la pratique du marché.
Cette initiative, qui a été la première de ce genre à être mise en place par un cabinet d'avocats international, rencontre un franc succès. Depuis septembre 2013, la CCAA a organisé 10 sessions dans 7 pays d'Afrique. Au total, 244 participants représentant 63 cabinets d'avocats à travers 20 pays africains ont participé aux formations de l'Africa Academy sur des sujets tels que le droit bancaire, le financement de projets, les marchés de capitaux, la pratique corporate, et le contentieux. Les formations ont été animées par 22 associés de l'ensemble du réseau de Clifford Chance.
Konyin Ajavi, Managing Partner du cabinet d'avocats Nigérian Olaniwun Ajayi LP a qualifié cette initiative de "visionnaire".
