K&L Gates has hired Markus Blenntoft as partner in its banking and asset finance practice in Singapore from Dentons, which closed its local operation earlier.

Blenntoft specialises in debt capital markets and Islamic finance with a focus on international Islamic bond transactions in Southeast Asia. He also handles outbound finance work for Indian banks and counsels on murabaha and shariah-compliant finance structures as well.

“Markus is a great addition to the firm’s finance practice and further strengthens our capabilities in that area across Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Europe, and the U.S.” said David Tang, K&L Gates’ Asia managing partner, in a statement.

Blenntoft’s hire takes K&L Gates’ partner count in Singapore to 10.
