Ashurst recruits Skadden's former global private equity co-head

Shaun Lascelles is returning to the London office of Ashurst, and his move is being seen as an upturn in the fortunes of the city of London-based practice which has lost some of its main corporate lawyers since 2013.

Mr Lascelles has been at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom for 13 years. He was at Ashurst for three years before that as an associate. He studied at Cambridge University and also spent seven months in Singapore with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.

Big deals

Chambers and Partners give a list of big cross-border M&A and private equity deals he has been involved in, including Blackrock's acquisition of the Exchange Traded Funds division of Credit Suisse AG, Blackrock's acquisition of fund manager, MGPA Limited, the Vitol/Helios acquisition of Shell's African downstream operations and Nafta Moskva's acquisition of shares and ADRs of Polyus Gold.

Influx of capital

Mr Lascelles said: 'With private equity firms looking to take advantage of an influx of capital across the industry, helping them to leverage and unlock global opportunities is a key priority for law firms.' Sources: Legal Business and Chambers
