Pinsent Masons announces Horizon 2014 business lecture series

International law firm Pinsent Masons has announced the line-up for its Horizon 2014 business lecture series. Speakers will include Lord John Browne, John Micklethwait, Peter Marsh and Johanna Waterous CBE.

The speakers, each internationally recognised as leaders in their field, will explore business critical issues challenging organisations around the globe.

 Tuesday 7 October - The Global Race to Reinvent the State

John Micklethwait, Editor-in-Chief of The Economist and bestselling author of The Right Nation, presents his visionary argument that our current crisis in government is nothing less than the fourth radical transition in the history of the nation-state. The Fourth Revolution

Tuesday 21 October - The New Industrial Revolution: Opportunities for Britain

Peter Marsh, journalist and former manufacturing editor of the Financial Times, provides his analysis of the history and geography of manufacturing and his predictions for consumers, globalisation and the end of mass production.

Tuesday 4 November- Beyond Petroleum: Reflections on leadership

Lord Browne of Madingley FRS, FREng, UK Government's Lead Non-Executive Board member, Partner of Riverstone Holdings LLC and author.

Lord Browne will offer his reflections on leadership in the energy industry and beyond, ranging from his time as CEO of BP to his current work in the field of LGBT equality and inclusion in the workplace.

Wednesday 12 November - Tales from the Corporate Trenches: The role of the board in times of trouble

The final lecture will feature Johanna Waterous CBE, Director of Rexam PLC and RSA Insurance PLC, and Non-Executive Director of Wm. Morrison PLC.
Johanna Waterous CBE will examine how  tighter corporate governance guidelines, best practices and pre-planning are all well and good but how do boards really cope when it isn't 'business as usual'? Johanna Waterous CBE, will share perspectives on the role of NEDs and Boards when trouble hits.

David Isaac CBE, Partner and Head of Advanced Manufacturing and Technology at Pinsent Masons said: “Our annual lecture series focuses on significant issues from across the business world, and we are delighted that in 2014 we have secured such notable speakers. We have no doubt the lectures will provide invaluable insight for attendees, and that the issues raised will prompt further thought and debate on topics that dominate the boardroom." 

All lectures will be held at Pinsent Masons’ London headquarters, at 30 Crown Place, London EC2A 4ES. Registration is from 5.45pm for a 6.15pm start, and will finish by 7.30pm. Each lecture will be followed by a Q&A and a networking session. A small number of press passes will be available on request.
