Ashurst scales down its Adelaide office

Following in the steps of other firms, Ashurst has whittled down its presence in Adelaide - and will be keeping the office open there but without a full-time resident partner.

The only partner in the Adelaide office, Tanya Denning, is moving to Melbourne to take up a role in the energy practice. Two senior associates will remain in Adelaide and Ms Denning will continue to have oversight of the office. But five people have been affecting by the downsizing and the firm says that, ‘wherever possible’ they will be offered other posts in the firm. 

Business activity levels

The firm said: ‘Our ability to service our South Australian clients will not be impacted. The steps we are taking are in response to current and anticipated levels of business activity in the South Australian market.’ Piper Alderman, Kelly & Co and Finlayson have made redundancies in Adelaide this year.
