YUMA, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Interstate 8 immigration checkpoint east of Yuma arrested a 33-year-old female U.S. citizen Thursday for attempting to smuggle more than $407,000 worth of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Agents working with a canine team discovered the drugs packed into the spare tire of a Ford Expedition the woman was driving.

The drugs, consisting of over 30 pounds of methamphetamine and more than 28 pounds of cocaine, along with the vehicle, are being processed in accordance with Yuma Sector guidelines.
